Basra Governorate has inaugurated a new Mechanical Engineering Complex, designed to maintain and repair the Ministry of Electricity’s specialised machinery. The facility aims to enhance field maintenance efficiency, reduce equipment downtime, and improve emergency response across the province.
The complex features workshops for oil spraying, ironing, mechanical, cooling, and electrical maintenance, alongside recreational facilities for staff. It is also equipped with an advanced digital tracking system to monitor machinery movement, evaluate team performance, and accelerate project completion.
Minister of Electricity Engineer Ziad Ali Fadel said the complex is part of a broader plan to upgrade technical and logistical support systems in Basra’s electricity sector, ensuring a more reliable energy supply for citizens and vital local industries.
