Oil Export Routes Reviewed as Iraq Eyes Ceyhan Restart

Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister for Energy and Oil Minister, Hayan Abdul Ghani Al-Sawad, chaired an emergency meeting on Sunday to review oil production and export operations as the country weighs alternative routes to sustain flows.

The meeting, held by a government crisis committee, focused on maintaining stable output and ensuring exports continue despite logistical challenges. Officials discussed the possibility of shipping crude via tanker trucks, alongside plans to resume exports through Turkey.

Talks highlighted the potential restart of flows through the Port of Ceyhan, with officials indicating the long-idled route may reopen shortly.

The discussions highlight Baghdad’s efforts to safeguard energy supplies and export revenues while navigating regional disruptions that have complicated traditional export channels.

Iraq relies heavily on oil sales for state income, making the continuity of exports critical to economic stability.
