Working Hours Index Under Review by Ministry of Planning.

Yesterday, The Ministry of Planning had announced that a meeting had happened to discuss how to better measure and record the average working hours of the Iraqi residents. The meeting was proposed by the Undersecretary for Technical Affairs, who stated that Iraq lacked the proper tools to properly measure estimated time and performance, among multiple other challenges in conducting a proper evaluation which make it difficult to get accurate results within their institutions.

The ministry hopes that being able to properly record the hours can help improve productivity within the country, while also leaving the average worker enough time to connect with their friends, family and other quality of life improvements. They also discussed the possibility of having to restructure the public sector so it could better cooperate and meet the needs of the private sector of Iraq’s economy.

The meeting had multiple representatives from multiple departments and ministries of government. Some of the represented organisations include the Council of Advisors, the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
