Chairman of the Media and Communications Authority, Dr Nouvel Aborghev, has endorsed the organisation’s commitment to promoting women’s participation in media events and conferences, emphasising their fundamental role in shaping public discourse.
Speaking at the opening of the 14th International Festival of Arab Women, organised by the Iraqi Media Forum under the support of the Prime Minister and the Media and Communications Authority, Dr Aborghev emphasised the importance of empowering women and ensuring equal opportunities within the media sector.
“The Authority stands by its constitutional and social responsibilities to support initiatives that spotlight the contributions of Arab and Iraqi media women,” he said, praising the festival for honouring distinguished female voices in the industry.
The ceremony, attended by ambassadors, senior officials and union leaders, included participation from 11 media outlets across the Arab world and beyond. The event also included the announcement of the 2025 Atwar Bahjat Prize and showcased a range of cultural and artistic performances.
Dr Aborghev concluded that the annual festival offers a platform to celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit of women in media and reaffirm the country’s support for their continued leadership and creativity.
