Iraq’s Al-Malwiyah Minaret in Samarra was visited by a UNESCO representative in Iraq, earlier this week.
The Al-Malwiyah Minaret, also known as the Great Mosque of Samarra, is largely regarded as a unique architectural landmark, and a symbol of the history behind Iraq’s civilisations.
This visit came as part of ongoing efforts by UNESCO, aiming to protect cultural heritage sites and strengthen cooperation with national authorities concerned with the preservation of historical sites.
Those visiting the site expressed their appreciation for the efforts of the staff of Iraq’s State Board of Antiquities and Heritage, for their role in maintaining and preserving this historical legacy for future generations.
