The Iraqi National Ensemble for Musical Heritage Stuns in Madrid

The Iraqi National Ensemble for Musical Heritage delivered a spectacular performance conducted by Maestro Alaa Majeed at the National Music Auditorium in Madrid. Organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Spain, the event was attended by many high-profile figures such as ambassadors, alongside members of the Iraqi community.

The program masterfully displayed Iraq’s vast musical heritage through merging traditional techniques and authentic songs, and was received extremely well by the audience. The culturally collaborative work between Iraq and Spain, named “From Baghdad to Madrid” garnered exceptional attention. The piece made use of a beautiful blend of Iraqi rhythms and flamenco tunes, and included a dance performance by acclaimed Spanish dancer Anbia.

Furthermore, Ambassador Dr. Saleh Al-Tamimi gave a speech during the event, in which he expressed that music is a universal language with the power to connect different nations.

The performance came to an end with lively applause for the Maestro and ensemble, and an optimistic image of Iraq’s musical heritage, as well as role in promoting collaboration and openness; a manifestation of Iraq’s spirit in Madrid.
