The CMC Hosts UN Human Rights Office Acting Director

The head of the Communications and Media Commission (CMC) receives the Acting Director of the Human Rights Office at the United Nations Mission in Iraq.

Dr. Ali Moayyed, the head of the CMC, received Mr. Robert White, the Acting Director of the Human Rights Office affiliated with the United Nations Mission in Iraq, at the Commission’s headquarters in Baghdad.

Dr. Ali Moayyed emphasized the importance of the role played by the United Nations and its offices in supporting the political process in Iraq, providing support and assistance to state institutions, and fostering mutual cooperation in implementing developmental and humanitarian projects and programs.

He pointed out that the CMC, within its legal responsibilities, works on supporting media work in the country, developing the communications sector and information technology, in accordance with globally recognized instructions and principles that are competitive in these vital sectors.

Mr. Robert White expressed his gratitude for the CMC attention to protecting the public’s right to communication and freedom of expression, indicating that his office would work to provide support and advice on matters of mutual interest.

He also expressed his support for the CMC’s efforts to adopt international standards in drafting regulations and instructions related to media work and developing them to support media work in the country.
