The Austrian Foreign Minister Announces the Reopening of His Country’s Embassy in Baghdad

Baghdad – (iina) After more than 30 years of severance of diplomatic relations between the two friendly countries, Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg reopened the country’s embassy in Baghdad.

During his meeting with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. On regional and international issues of common interest, both sides expressed the need to strengthen coordination mechanisms.
The two parties discussed the work of Austrian companies in Iraq and the return of Austrian Airlines flights to Iraq.

Ahead of this initiative, “Austrian Airlines has been connecting Erbil to Vienna since 2006 and we have successively expanded our offer. Austrian Airlines is one of the few Western airlines connecting Erbil to Europe and we are offering six flights per week on this route.”, Austrian Airlines’ spokesperson expresses to Iraq International News Agency.
