Transport Minister Razak Muhibis Al-Saddawi has directed urgent measures to expedite the Sawah-Hajjama railway project in Samawah City. During his visit to Al-Muthanna Province today, he reviewed the project’s progress and service levels. The Minister led a meeting with the contractor, Blund Bayeh, and key officials including the Director General of Planning and Follow-up, Abbas Imran, and the Director General of Railways, Engineer Younis Al-Kaabi.
Al-Saddawi emphasised the need to meet the project deadline by the end of September, addressing any delays or issues. The project is 96% complete, with the remaining 4% expected to be finished within two months. The Sawah-Hajjama line, a key government initiative stretching 43 km, includes three bridges over the Euphrates River and two stations. The project, backed by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani, aims to enhance services for large-scale pilgrimages.
