In celebration of knowledge and creativity, Iraq’s capital held its 26th annual, Baghdad International Book Fair, under the theme, “Baghdad is more beautiful when we read.”

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani inaugurated the event on Wednesday, 10th September 2025, alongside Iraq’s Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Dr. Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, and Qatar’s Minister of Culture, as the State of Qatar takes centre stage as the guest of honour for 2025.
In his speech, amidst the attendance of over 600 publishers from around the world, Prime Minister Al-Sudani described the fair as being a part of Baghdad’s broader cultural revival. He highlighted the success of the 2024 Book Printing Support Initiative, which produced 130 titles from contemporary and heritage genres, to translated works.
Running until the 21st of September, the fair offers a platform for knowledge exchange, and celebration of the written word.
