Paralympic Champion Najla Imad Honoured by Sports Ministry

In a touching moment, The Director General of the Department of Physical Education and Sports at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Dr Muwaffaq Abdul Wahab, welcomed his daughter at the ministry.

His daughter, Najlah Imad, is one of Iraq’s top athletes, and a Paralympic table tennis champion.

More than just a family reunion, the meeting showed the ministry’s ongoing commitment to supporting Iraq’s top athletes, especially those breaking new ground in sport.

Dr Abdul Wahab spoke about the importance of backing champions like Najla, who help shine a positive light on Iraq around the world.

Visibly moved, Najlah thanked Youth Minister Dr Ahmed Al-Mubarqa for his constant support, and her father for his warm welcome and encouragement. She said moments like this inspire her and her teammates to keep aiming high and proudly raising Iraq’s flag in Arab, continental, and international competitions.

Behind the medals and success is a story of determination, resilience, and a family’s shared love of sport.
