As part of an ongoing incentive to develop artistic skills amongst Iraqi youth, the Youth Culture and Arts Department had created and hosted a workshop called “Developing and Empowering Youth Creative Talents in Cinema and Theatre” earlier this week, to teach beginner filmmaking skills. These skills include writing, performing, directing and cinematography skills for films and television.
The workshop included both discussions and practical exercises for the students to follow. The workshop itself was also presented by the Director of the Cinema and Theatre Department, offering an official and professional experience to the young creative minds.
This programme comes as part of a larger government to help foster the creativity of young Iraqis. On the same day, the Youth Culture and Arts Department collaborated with the Department of Music and Chanting to make a similar workshop around soundtracks, covering the basics of creating music and how they can help convey emotion in a cinematic story.
