Nasiriyah and Graff Gas Project Set for 2027

Iraq’s Ministry of Oil has confirmed that the strategic Nasiriyah and Graff gas project has entered an advanced stage of implementation, with the installation of specialised equipment underway at the project sites. The initiative is being executed in cooperation with Bakerhouses International Company, reflecting the government’s commitment to expanding the country’s clean energy and electricity infrastructure.

The Nasiriyah and Graff gas project is scheduled to begin operations in the first quarter of 2027.

Ministry’s spokesman for Gas Affairs, Mr. Izat Sabir Ismail, stated that the project is one of the ministry’s top priorities, with a production capacity estimated at 200 million cubic feet of gas per day.

In addition to bolstering Iraq’s energy security, the project is expected to reduce the burning of associated gas, minimise environmental emissions, and maximise the utilisation of national resources. Analysts note that this will have a positive impact on Iraq’s economy while supporting its clean energy and electricity sector.

The Nasiriyah and Graff gas project is a significant step in Iraq’s efforts to modernise its energy infrastructure, attract international investment, and enhance sustainable energy production, aligning with national priorities for environmental responsibility and energy diversification.
