Minister of Health Reviews Australian Hospital Project in Baqubah

In line with the government’s health sector priorities, including the completion, inauguration, and operation of healthcare projects, Dr. Saleh Mahdi Al-Hasnawi, Iraq’s Minister of Health, visited the Australian Hospital project with a 400-bed capacity south of Baqubah on Thursday, 6 February 2025. He was accompanied by Dr. Khamis Al-Saad, the Administrative Undersecretary of the Ministry, Dr. Eng. Hussam Alwan, Director General of the Projects and Specialised Engineering Services Department, Dr. Haider Al-Mukdami, Director General of Diyala Health, and several other ministry officials.

The Minister reviewed the progress of the project, including the challenges faced and the proposed solutions to ensure its timely completion. He instructed the relevant authorities to overcome any obstacles and provide the necessary support to expedite the work.

Dr. Al-Hasnawi emphasised that the Australian Hospital is a key strategic project for the Ministry of Health in Diyala, representing a significant step forward in the region’s healthcare services, thanks to its advanced medical centres. He reaffirmed that the completion of this project is crucial for improving the healthcare situation in the governorate.
