The Iraqi Maqam House in Kirkuk has opened discussions with local authorities, in an attempt to strengthen and promote the city’s rich cultural heritage.
The talks focused on organising heritage and folklore events, that celebrate Kirkuk’s deep-rooted traditions and reinforce the Iraqi Maqam as a vital artistic legacy with historical and civilisational significance.
During a meeting on Sunday the 12th of April, the Director of the Iraqi Maqam House met with the First Deputy Governor of Kirkuk, to explore opportunities for joint initiatives. He commended the institution’s dedication to safeguarding authentic musical traditions, highlighting its important role in reflecting the governorate’s cultural diversity and enriching its artistic landscape.
In response, the Iraqi Maqam House expressed appreciation for the support and reaffirmed its commitment to expanding collaboration with official bodies. By working together on cultural projects and heritage initiatives, both sides aim to strengthen Kirkuk’s standing as a vibrant centre of cultural and heritage diversity.
