KBR Wins Major Contract for Majnoon Oil Field

KBR  has been awarded a major contract by Basra Oil Company to provide Integrated Field Management Services for the Majnoon Oil Field, one of the world’s largest oil reserves with over 38 billion barrels.

Under the contract, KBR will deliver upstream engineering, operations management, maintenance services, and implement advanced AI and digital technologies to optimise production, modernise field facilities, and enhance reservoir performance safely and sustainably. The scope includes subsurface drilling, reservoir engineering, and integrated management of this strategic Iraqi oil asset.

“Projects of this scale require a trusted partner with proven in-country experience and a strong safety culture. We are honoured to support BOC in advancing Iraq’s energy ambitions.” Said Jay Ibrahim, President of KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions.

The project is expected to create substantial local employment, with an initial workforce of around 2,000 personnel, and will focus on knowledge transfer, training, and development for Iraq’s engineering sector. KBR will combine in-country teams with global engineering centres to ensure strong local engagement while applying international best practices in project delivery and digital engineering.

The contract further strengthens KBR’s presence in Iraq’s energy sector, building on years of work across major oil fields, including Rumaila, and initiatives to support economic, industrial, and social development in the country.
