Hisham Al-Rikabi, member of the Board of Commissioners at the Media and Communications Commission (CMC), has called on Iraqi media outlets to maintain the highest professional standards in their coverage of the upcoming election campaigns.
Al-Rikabi stressed the importance of accuracy, objectivity, and balance in reporting, noting that responsible media practices are essential to ensuring a fair and transparent democratic process.
He stated that the CMC will intensify media monitoring efforts during the campaign period to identify and address any violations of broadcasting regulations, ensuring that all media institutions adhere to the approved code of conduct.
The commission noted that Iraqis deserve credible and impartial media that prioritises national interests and helps voters make informed choices. Also urging media institutions to act as true partners in supporting democracy by promoting fairness, pluralism, and integrity in their coverage.
The CMC reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a transparent and accountable media environment that strengthens public trust in Iraq’s democratic institutions.
