Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani conducted a field tour of three main projects at the Al-Faw Grand Port: the five berths, the navigation channel, and the container handling yard.
During the inspection, the Prime Minister reviewed the progress of ongoing works and highlighted the national importance of completing the projects. The navigation channel has been fully completed, reaching a depth of 19.8 metres, a length of 23 km, and a width of 200 metres, forming a critical part of Khor Abdullah.
The container handling yard is 96.5% complete, measuring 2,000 metres long and 600 metres wide, with an annual capacity of 3 million containers. The five berths have reached 100% completion, with a total length of 1,750 metres.
Officials said these projects are central to positioning Al-Faw Grand Port as a major regional hub for trade and logistics, enhancing Iraq’s capacity to handle international shipping and commercial traffic.
