Iraqi Women Secure Bronze Medal in West Asian Championship

The Iraq women’s national football team secured third place in the ninth West Asian Championship after defeating Saudi Arabia 4–2 on penalties in the match held at King Abdullah Stadium in Jeddah. The victory earned Iraq the bronze medal and highlighted the continued development of women’s football in the country.

Both teams delivered a balanced performance during regular time before the match was ultimately decided by penalty kicks, where Iraqi players showed composure to secure the win.

The team features several players competing professionally abroad, including Nur Al-Jawahiri of Sparta Rotterdam in the Netherlands and Hoda Khalaf of the Swedish club Karlberg, reflecting the growing presence of Iraqi footballers in European leagues.
