Iraqi Palestinian Author, Saleem Haddad, Celebrates the Release of Novel 'Floodlines' in UK

Iraqi-Palestinian author, Saleem Haddad, celebrates the UK release of his latest novel, ‘Floodlines’, demonstrating the continued cultural contributions of the Iraqi diaspora.

On February 18th, Haddad appeared at Waterstones, Islington, in conversation with the 2023 Desmond Elliot Residency prize winner, Santanu Bhattacharya.

At its heart, Floodlines is a novel about the Iraqi lived experience, navigating themes of grief, memory and identity, while charting the emotional aftershocks of a century shaped by war and revolution in Iraq and beyond.

While Iraq’s history has faced undeniable challenges, the London launch of Floodlines offered a powerful reminder of the country’s enduring cultural vitality. Through literature and dialogue, Iraqi voices in the diaspora continue to contribute meaningfully to global artistic and intellectual life.
