Iraqi Ministry of Health Makes Positive Progress in Tackling Antisocial Behaviour

Under the orders of the Minister of Health, Dr. Saleh Mahdi Al-Hasnawi, 108 kilograms of narcotics and 968 tables of psychedelic substances have been destroyed. 

These substances had previously been stored in the Baghdad Forensic Medicine Department to us as evidence for criminal cases. 

Under the supervision of a specialised committee, the destruction was done via special incinerators, burning the substances with a temperature of 1000 degrees Celsius and getting rid of the remains. 

This destruction was part of a broader effort by the Iraqi government to protect Iraqis from the dangers posed by recreational drug use, and limit antisocial behaviour.
