Iraqi Airways Suspends Flights and Strengthens Staff Communication

On 1 March 2026, Iraqi Airways announced the temporary suspension of its flights due to ongoing security developments and the closure of regional airspace. The company confirmed that it is closely monitoring the situation in coordination with the Civil Aviation Authority and relevant authorities. Flights will resume once normal operations can safely continue and passengers were advised to follow the airline’s official platforms for updates.

On the same day, the Director General of Iraqi Airways, Engineer Manaf Abdul Munim Ajel, held an extensive meeting with the company’s senior team to discuss organisational and technical measures. The meeting focused on ensuring operational continuity, protecting the fleet and staff, implementing enhanced safety protocols, and adopting cost-control measures without affecting service quality. Departments were also instructed to accelerate maintenance, deep cleaning of aircraft and staff training programmes.

Since the suspension announcement, Iraqi Airways has continued to strengthen its communication with employees. Today, Engineer Ajel held a regular weekly meeting with staff, coordinated with the Citizens Affairs Division, to listen directly to requests and follow up on professional and administrative needs. He emphasised that these meetings are a key part of fostering institutional openness, building trust, as well as ensuring that requests are handled fairly, ultimately supporting a positive working environment and improving overall company performance.

Iraqi Airways and the Ministry of Transport continue to encourage passengers and staff to follow official platforms for updates on operations and company activities.
