Iraq, UN Strengthen Partnership on Security, Development

Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani met on Sunday with the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Operational Support, Atul Khare, to discuss ongoing cooperation between Iraq and the UN.

The Prime Minister expressed Iraq’s gratitude for UNAMI’s role in supporting the Iraqi people and reaffirmed continued collaboration with UN humanitarian and development programs. He also highlighted Iraq’s support for the UN Secretary-General’s “UN 80” reform initiative and the government’s commitment to contributing to its implementation.

Khare commended Iraq’s progress across various sectors and praised the government’s framework agreement with the UN Resident Coordinator following UNAMI’s mandate, underlining the importance of sustaining this partnership to support security and sustainable development.
