Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani met on Tuesday with Mohamed Al-Hassan, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Iraq, to review cooperation between Iraq and the United Nations and assess progress on ongoing development programmes.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the work carried out by UN agencies across several sectors in Iraq, including development support, institutional strengthening, and humanitarian initiatives.
Prime Minister Al-Sudani reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining strong cooperation with the United Nations, especially as the mandate of the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) moves toward its conclusion. He stressed the importance of continuing joint efforts within the framework of existing UN programmes to ensure sustainable progress.
The meeting underscores Iraq’s continued partnership with the international community and its focus on reinforcing stability, development, and institutional cooperation.
