Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Fawad Hussein, met with the British Ambassador to Baghdad, Irfan Siddiq, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand economic cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, officials reviewed opportunities for British companies operating in Iraq, addressing challenges and identifying solutions to enhance their presence in the Iraqi market. Minister Hussein emphasised the vital role that international firms, particularly British companies, can play in supporting Iraq’s economic development, citing their advanced expertise and technological capabilities.
Ambassador Siddiq highlighted the United Kingdom’s commitment to broadening economic and investment ties with Iraq, commending the government’s efforts to facilitate business operations and improve the investment climate. The discussions also touched on regional developments and a review of Iraq’s recent electoral process, which was described as calm and positive by both sides.
The meeting reinforces Iraq’s ongoing engagement with international partners to attract investment, promote knowledge transfer, and enhance the participation of foreign companies in key sectors, particularly infrastructure, energy, and technology.
