Iraq’s youth football team secured a 1-1 draw against Uzbekistan in a friendly match held in Tashkent as part of their preparations for the AFC U-20 Championship. The tournament is scheduled to take place in China in February 2025.
The closely contested match highlighted the teams’ competitive spirits, with both sides testing their strategies and showcasing their talent in front of a spirited audience.
The match was attended by Mohammed Nasser, a member of the Executive Office of the Iraqi Football Association and head of Iraq’s team delegation. His presence underscored the importance of the friendly matches in ensuring the team’s readiness for the championship.
This fixture is part of Iraq’s broader preparation programme, aimed at refining their skills and fostering teamwork ahead of the prestigious AFC U-20 Championship, where they aim to make a strong impact.
