In a move aimed at boosting cooperation, Dr. Ali Al-Moayyed, Chairman of Iraq’s Communications and Media Commission (CMC), welcomed Japan’s Ambassador to Baghdad, Futoshi Matsumoto, at the Commission’s headquarters. The meeting focused on exploring ways to enhance mutual collaboration, particularly in the areas of technology and communications.
A key point of discussion was the role of Japanese companies, which are highly trusted by the Iraqi public, and the potential for deeper partnerships. Both sides highlighted the need to expand cooperation in digital transformation, electronic payments, and media-related fields.
One of the most significant aspects of the conversation was the exploration of Japan’s advanced expertise in 5G and 6G communication networks. As Japan leads the way in these technologies, the possibility of transferring knowledge to Iraq could accelerate the country’s progress in this vital sector.
Dr. Al-Moayyed and Ambassador Matsumoto also discussed the importance of the Iraqi market, emphasizing its potential as one of the most promising in the region. This makes it a key area for Japanese companies looking to establish a presence and expand trade.
The meeting underscored how strengthening these ties could pave the way for Iraq to benefit from Japan’s technological advancements while offering new opportunities for Japanese businesses to grow in a rapidly evolving market.
