The President of the National Investment Authority, Dr Haider Mohammed Makia, received His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Iraq, Mr Lee Jong Il, to discuss prospects for joint cooperation between Iraq and South Korea in the fields of investment, trade, and economic exchange.
Dr Makia welcomed the visit of the Korean Ambassador, emphasising Iraq’s commitment to developing economic relations with South Korea and benefiting from the advanced expertise of Korean companies, which have demonstrated a strong presence in the implementation of strategic projects across Iraq. The two sides reviewed available investment opportunities in the industrial, housing, energy, and infrastructure sectors, as well as ways to create an attractive investment environment for Korean investors.
The Korean Ambassador expressed his country’s desire to strengthen economic cooperation with Iraq, also noting the interest of Korean companies in participating in Iraq’s development and reconstruction projects, given their advanced technical and engineering capabilities.
