The Iraqi National Theatre band, part of the Ministry of Culture’s Cinema and Theatre Department, participated in the 16th Arab Theatre Festival in Cairo.
As part of the of the event, director Mohannad Hadi showcased his play, “Maatam Al-Sayed Al-Walid”, on Saturday, January 11th.
The play was one of the entries for the festival’s official competition for the Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Award for Best Theatrical Performance.
The president of the Iraqi Artists Syndicate and general manager of the Cinema and Theatre Department, Dr. Jabbar Joudi, attended the show and
commended the band’s performance.
The 2026 Arab Theatre Festival took place in the Cairo Opera House and was organised by the Arab Theatre Institute in collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture. The festival featured 14 performances from countries including Iraq, Morocco, Qatar, Tunisia, the UAE, Lebanon, Jordan, Kuwait, and Egypt.
