Iraq’s Ministry of Planning discussed with the United Nations team in Iraq mechanisms for establishing a donor fund, as part of broader efforts to enhance international cooperation and support national development priorities.
Talks focused on the fund’s establishment within the 2025–2029 Cooperation Framework, including its terms of reference, governance arrangements and measures to ensure effective management, transparency in resource allocation and alignment with national priorities.
Discussions also covered the formation of a steering committee co-chaired by the Ministry of Planning and the UN Resident Coordinator, alongside plans for technical committees and sub-groups aligned with the framework’s four strategic priorities.
The meeting was chaired by the Ministry’s Technical Undersecretary, Dr Maher Hamad Johhan, with participation from Dr Saher Abdul Kadhim, Director General of the International Cooperation Department. The UN delegation was led by Resident Coordinator and Deputy Secretary-General Ghulam Ishaq.
