Iraq Participates at the Amman Folk Arts Festival

Iraq is proudly participating in the Amman Contemporary Dance Festival held in Jordan. Supported by Dr. Jabbar Joudi, the Director General of the Department of Cinema and led by the esteemed artist Ziad Al-Hilali, the Iraqi delegation presented the highly acclaimed theatrical performance, Malaf 12, directed by Mortada Ali.

Malaf 12 captivated audiences at the Cultural Center Hall in Amman with its powerful storytelling and innovative production. The play has previously been awarded prestigious awards at leading Arab festivals such as the Best Direction Award at the Alexandria Festival, and the Best Scenography Award at the Cairo Festival. These awards highlight the exceptional talent of Iraqi theatre artists and the creativity they bring to the stage.

The performance had a large attendance, including Iraqi embassy representatives, theatre specialists and fans of Iraqi culture. The presence of such a diverse audience highlights the regional appreciation for Iraqi theatre and its ability to engage viewers with thought-provoking themes and outstanding artistry.

Iraq’s participation in the festival reflects the country’s rich cultural heritage and emphasises its ongoing contributions to the Arab arts scene. Under the guidance of dedicated cultural leaders like Dr. Jabbar Joudi, Iraqi theatre continues to gain recognition, encouraging cultural exchange and strengthening ties with the artistic community across the Arab world
