Iraq Moves Forward with $60 Billion Al-Tayib Economic City

The National Investment Commision (NIC) has confirmed progress on the Al-Tayeb Economic City Project in Maysan, a major step towards transforming the area into a strategic multi-service investment zone.

Chairman Dr. Haider Muhammad Makia announced that the NIC has received the planning vision for the project from KBR Company, approved by the specialised committee. He said official procedures are underway to declare the Al-Tayeb area in preparation for its launch as a national strategic investment opportunity.

Valued at nearly $60 billion, the project is expected to create thousands of jobs across Maysan and neighbouring governorates. It will serve as a key economic hub connected to the Development Road Project, attracting investment in logistics, industry, housing, and services.

Dr. Makia emphasised that the Authority is coordinating with relevant ministries and government bodies to finalise procedures and ensure the project’s timely and transparent implementation.
