Iraq Highlights Economic Reforms at Common Fund Meeting

The Ministry of Commerce has taken part in the 37th annual meeting of the Council of Governors of the Common Fund for Essential Commodities in The Hague, represented by Riyadh Fakher Al Hashmi, Director General of the Foreign Economic Relations Department and Iraq’s governor to the fund.

The ministry said Al Hashmi highlighted Iraq’s ongoing economic reform efforts, noting recent progress in achieving crop self-sufficiency and stabilising basic product prices, which he described as evidence of effective food security and market management policies.

He added that the ministry continues to expand international partnerships and benefit from the financial and technical support offered by the Common Fund to advance sustainable development projects and empower both the public and private sectors.

Representatives from the Iraqi Embassy in The Hague also took part in the meetings, which form part of Iraq’s efforts to strengthen its diplomatic and economic engagement within international organisations.
