The Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority (ICAA) has extended the closure of the country’s airspace for all incoming, outgoing, and transit flights until Friday, March 13, 12:00 noon local time, citing ongoing assessments of regional security developments.
The temporary suspension began at 12:00 noon on Tuesday and was initially set for 72 hours. Authorities said the decision was made as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of passengers and aircraft, and will be re-evaluated as the situation evolves.
The closure affects both commercial and transit flights, leaving international and domestic airlines closely monitoring developments. Passengers travelling to or from Iraq are advised to check with airlines for updated schedules and potential flight changes.
