The Iraqi Central Bank, led by Governor Ali Mohsen Ismail, held a meeting of the Iraqi Payments Council with representatives from government ministries, public sector institutions, private banks, and electronic payment companies.
The meeting focused on improving the use of electronic payments across ministries and public institutions, including updating tools and systems and making it easier to pay and collect money digitally. Council members also discussed ways to involve the private sector more, helping businesses use digital payments and connect with government systems.
Plans to expand digital salary payments for government employees were highlighted, along with efforts to make banking services available to more people and raise financial awareness across communities.
The Council’s work supports Iraq’s goal of creating a modern, efficient, and inclusive digital economy for both the public and private sectors.
