Iraq Enhances Energy Portfolio with Hadab Completion

Under the patronage of the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, the Oil Exploration Company has successfully completed the 2D “Hadab” seismic survey programme in Nineveh Governorate. The project, carried out by the 8th Seismic Division of the Field Work Authority, covers a total length of 1,691.9 kilometres and comprises 33,876 energy points.

This milestone marks a significant national achievement, realised through the commitment and professionalism of Iraqi technical teams. Despite the complex geographical terrain and logistical challenges, the staff executed the seismic survey in full compliance with technical and environmental standards, reinforcing Iraq’s strategic efforts to bolster its energy sector.

General Manager of the Oil Exploration Company, Mr Osama Raouf Hussein, hailed the accomplishment as a testament to the capabilities and dedication of the 8th Seismic Division. “The success achieved reflects the level of professionalism and the team’s unwavering commitment to excellence. It showcases the spirit of collaboration and ambition to deliver results that align with Iraq’s future exploration objectives,” he stated.

Mr Hussein also commended the team’s outstanding performance and reaffirmed the Company’s continued support for all seismic units, which he described as the cornerstone of exploration activities. He emphasised that any obstacles encountered would be addressed to ensure uninterrupted progress and adherence to the highest safety and operational standards.

He further noted that the successful completion of the Hadab programme serves as a vital contribution to the national economy, playing a key role in enhancing Iraq’s hydrocarbon reserves and offsetting depletion in existing fields.
