Iraq Confirms Adequate Fuel Supplies Amid Regional Tensions

Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Oil Minister, Hayyan Abdul Ghani Al-Sawad, said the country has sufficient supplies of fuel and liquid petroleum gas (LPG) to meet domestic demand.

Speaking during a ministry meeting on Monday, the minister said petroleum products are being secured through output from Iraqi refineries and national energy companies, alongside strategic reserves.

The refineries are operating at their designed capacity to ensure the supply of gasoline, gas oil, kerosene and other products used for local consumption and electricity generation.

Officials also reviewed global oil market conditions and crude pricing during the meeting, including potential impacts on supply and prices from tensions affecting the Strait of Hormuz.

Representatives from Iraq’s extraction, gas and refining sectors, as well as executives from the State Organization for Marketing of Oil and Basra Oil Company, attended the discussions.

The ministry said it is implementing contingency plans to ensure the continued availability of fuel products for domestic markets.
