Iraq, China Coordinate Ahead of Chinese-Arab Summit

Ambassador Shorsh Khaled Saeed, Iraq’s representative for Multilateral and Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met with Mr. Tsui Wei, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Iraq, at the ministry’s headquarters in Baghdad on Sunday.

The high-level meeting focused on bilateral relations, updates on regional and international developments, and ways to promote cooperation and coordination in multilateral conferences. Both sides stressed the importance of continuing dialogue to support regional stability and strengthen international partnerships.

Ambassador Saeed highlighted Iraq’s commitment to enhancing prospects for cooperation in priority areas, while the Chinese Ambassador reaffirmed his country’s desire to expand bilateral collaboration across political, economic, and cultural sectors.

The discussion also covered preparations for the upcoming Chinese-Arab Summit in mid-2026, with Ambassador Tsui Wei emphasising the need for close coordination with Iraq.

A ministry spokesperson underlined the importance of ongoing coordination and consultation on multilateral issues, reflecting Iraq’s active role in fostering regional cooperation and international dialogue.
