Iraq on Tuesday marked the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Iraqi Army, with official ceremonies including tributes from parliament and government institutions and a 21-gun salute fired by artillery units in the capital.
The national commemoration also featured a parade at the Iraqi Military College, attended by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, who praised the army’s role and sacrifices in defending the country.
In a statement, Al-Sudani paid tribute to members of the armed forces, honouring those killed and wounded in service. He said the government remains committed to strengthening the army’s capabilities and supporting its role in safeguarding Iraq’s sovereignty.
