Iraq Celebrates 105th National Army Day

 The Iraqi Army celebrates today, Tuesday, January 6, the 105th anniversary of its founding, with celebrations including tributes and congratulations from the Iraqi parliament and ministries, as well as a 21-round gun-salute in Baghdad by the Iraqi artillery to commemorate the day.

The national celebration also included an Iraqi Military College Parade attended by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, who highlighted the army’s sacrifices for Iraq.

Prime Minister Al-Sudani said: “On the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Iraqi Army, we honour our sons in the armed forces and stand with deep respect and appreciation for the sacrifices of the martyrs and our wounded heroes, who defended Iraq, its sovereignty, and its land.” In a social media post, he also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to strengthening the Iraqi Army’s capabilities.
