Iraq Builds Consensus for Stronger, Fairer Social Systems

In partnership with the United Nations and its agencies, including the World Food Programme and UNICEF, the Iraqi government has concluded a two-day national consultation to outline the country’s future commitments ahead of the WSSD2 summit in Doha this November.

The meeting brought together key ministries, civil society representatives and UN partners, under the leadership of the Ministry of Planning and the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office.

Their discussions focused on reshaping a unified national vision built on social justice, the empowerment of women and children, and stronger public institutions.

Iraq will present its reform momentum at a joint event with Timor-Leste titled “From Reform to Impact”. As Iraq marks 30 years since the Copenhagen Summit, its renewed focus signals a shift toward lasting, inclusive reform.
