Iraq has begun implementing four major road and bridge projects in the governorates of Wasit and Najaf, with a total value of 374.8 billion dinars.
The projects include the expansion and rehabilitation of the Kut–Baghdad Road, the construction of a second carriageway on the Deboni–Jassan Road, the Al-Suwayra–Jibla–Expressway route, and the Fifth Kufa Bridge linking Najaf International Airport with Ghammas and Kufa District.
In remarks delivered via video conference, Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani said the new projects reflect the government’s commitment to strengthening the national road and transport network, noting that infrastructure remains central to Iraq’s investment and economic development plans. He highlighted progress across the sector, including more than 1,000 km of roads and over 42 bridges completed in recent years, alongside the expansion of projects serving the Multimillion-Pilgrims Events.
