A broad cooperation agreement was signed by Iraq and Mauritania, in an attempt to strengthen ties in culture, education, labour and trade.
Formalised on October 14th, 2025, in Baghdad, during the second session of the Iraqi-Mauritanian Joint Committee, the ceremony was led by Iraq’s Minister of Culture, Professor Dr. Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, and Mauritania’s Minister of Culture, Dr. Al-Hussein Ould Madou.
The key areas of cooperation discussed were social affairs, diplomacy, trade and education and science, with a joint framework covering 2026-2028 signed by both countries’ higher education ministries.
