Iraq and Kuwait have agreed to organise reciprocal cultural weeks in both countries as part of efforts to strengthen cultural partnership and highlight their shared civilisational heritage.
The agreement was reached during a meeting on Wednesday 11th February between Iraq’s Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities for Cultural Affairs, Professor Dr. Fadhil Mohammed Al-Badrani, and the Secretary-General of Kuwait’s National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, Dr. Mohammed Khaled Al-Jassar.
According to officials, the planned cultural weeks aim to promote greater awareness of the shared artistic and historical legacy of Iraq and Kuwait, while fostering people-to-people connections. Talks also focused on facilitating the exchange of artistic works and official visits, as well as enhancing tourism collaboration between the two countries.
Both parties underscored the importance of Iraqi and Kuwaiti artistic troupes participating in national festivals and cultural celebrations in each country, describing such exchanges as vital to reinforcing fraternal ties and cultural rapprochement between the two nations.
The Kuwaiti side expressed its commitment to expanding cultural and artistic cooperation in a manner that reflects the depth of historical relations between Iraq and Kuwait and strengthens joint Arab cultural engagement.
The Iraqi delegation, headed by Dr. Al-Badrani, arrived in Kuwait on Tuesday, February 10, to participate in the closing events of “Kuwait, Capital of Arab Culture and Media 2025.”
