Iraq advances energy cooperation with Chevron delegat

Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani met on Tuesday with a delegation from the American energy company Chevron Corporation, led by Vice President Joe Koch. The meeting included the Minister of Oil and several senior officials from Iraq’s oil sector.

The discussions focused on investments in the Nasiriyah oil field and potential cooperation on the West Qurna/2 field, with the Prime Minister emphasising the need for substantial  results from ongoing talks between Chevron and the Ministry of Oil.

Al-Sudani highlighted Iraq’s energy vision, encouraging collaboration with international companies to foster technology transfer and build local expertise.

The meeting addressed plans to expand refining capacity and develop a petrochemical industry in Dhi Qar and other oil-producing provinces.

For its part, Chevron reaffirmed its commitment to long-term partnerships and bilateral agreements, supporting Iraq’s ambition to become a regional energy hub while ensuring the effective development of the country’s oil resources.
