The Iraq Britain Business Council (IBBC), in collaboration with the British Chamber of Commerce in Turkey (BCCT), held a high-level online webinar titled “Doing Business in Iraq”, spotlighting emerging investment opportunities and the country’s evolving business landscape. The session gathered business leaders, investors, and economic experts to discuss key sectors, regulatory updates, and practical guidance for entering the Iraqi market.
Ashley Goodall, IBBC’s marketing consultant, emphasised strategic advantages for investors and the importance of local partnerships, while Chris Gaunt, BCCT Chairman, highlighted the chamber’s role in facilitating investments for Turkish and British companies and strengthening Iraq-Turkey business relations.
Speakers explored Iraq’s economic potential, noting growth in infrastructure, energy, construction, and professional services. Jonathan Wilks, former UK Ambassador, pointed to improvements in security and political consensus, fostering a stable investment environment. Other panelists stressed local engagement, workforce readiness, and regulatory reforms. Ahmed Alhaidary highlighted Turkish companies’ strategic role in reconstruction and expansion, particularly through the Development Road Project, which enhances trade and transport links between Iraq and Turkey.
The webinar concluded by urging long-term engagement and strategic partnerships, positioning Iraq as a dynamic, diversified market for sustainable investment opportunities.
