Hamad Port Seeks to Boost Iraq-Qatar Trade Links

Trade Minister Dr Ather Dawoud Salman visited the Port of Hamad in Qatar to inspect its infrastructure and advanced logistics services, exploring opportunities for Iraqi traders and entrepreneurs to benefit from its operational capabilities.

During the visit, the Minister received a presentation on the port’s handling, storage, and transportation technologies, as well as its role in promoting regional trade and connecting global markets. Discussions focused on facilitating Iraqi trade, simplifying logistics procedures, activating new transport routes, and using the port as a hub to support Iraq’s imports and diversify supply sources.

Minister Salman stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation with Qatar in maritime transport and port services, noting its direct impact on private sector growth and efficient goods movement. Both sides agreed to continue technical coordination and establish channels to implement future joint projects aimed at enhancing trade relations.
