Baghdad International Airport welcomed the first flight of Bahrain’s Gulf Air on Saturday, in a ceremony attended by the airport’s director, Mr. Harith Al-Obeidi, the Bahraini ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Khalid Ahmed Al-Mansour, and several airport officials.
The reception took place in a celebratory atmosphere, with friendly and cordial exchanges between the parties. The director of Baghdad Airport emphasized that, following the directives of the Minister of Transport, Mr. Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadaoui, and the General Director of Airports, Dr. Abbas Sabbar Al-Baydhani, the commencement of scheduled flights by Gulf Air is a strategic initiative. This move aims to enrich the network of destinations connected to Baghdad International Airport, foster greater exchange relations in various fields, particularly tourism, and meet travelers’ needs with high efficiency and quality.
Ambassador Al-Mansour expressed his delight with the progress achieved in bilateral relations, highlighting that the new Gulf Air destination is a valuable addition to the network of destinations available to travelers. He noted that this effort is part of Gulf Air’s broader strategy to enhance its destinations and achieve greater openness between Manama and Baghdad.
The new route is expected to significantly boost tourism and business travel between Iraq and Bahrain, with four weekly flights to Baghdad, and daily flights to Najaf. This development is anticipated to enhance economic and cultural exchanges, offering passengers more travel options and contributing to the growth of the aviation sector in both countries.
The introduction of Gulf Air flights to Baghdad International Airport is a positive development for both countries, promising to enhance bilateral relations and contribute to the growth of the aviation sector in Iraq.
