Fokker Strengthens Technical Support for Iraqi Airways

Dutch Ambassador Janet Alberda visited Iraqi Airways on Tuesday, touring the airline’s facilities accompanied by Niels Elshof, Regional Sales Manager at Fokker Services Group. The delegation was hosted by Director-General Manaf Abdel-Monem, highlighting the growing collaboration between Dutch aviation firms and Iraq’s national carrier.

During the visit, the delegation explored one of Iraqi Airways’ maintenance hangars, observing the technical work underway. Fokker Services Group is currently providing aircraft maintenance support, reflecting the Netherlands’ commitment to contributing to a safe, modern, and connected aviation industry in Iraq.

This partnership is part of a broader effort to enhance Iraq’s aviation sector. Air France-KLM has also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Iraqi Ministry of Transport to assist Iraqi Airways in establishing commercial flights to Europe and renovating Baghdad International Airport to meet international standards.

The visit reflects the Dutch Embassy’s broader efforts to promote economic cooperation and sustainable development in Iraq, with aviation seen as a key area. The Netherlands takes pride in the active role Dutch companies are playing in advancing Iraq’s aviation industry and promoting private sector partnerships.
