The Finnish Ambassador to Iraq, Antti Putkonen, visited the UNESCO World Heritage site of the ancient city of Hatra in Al-Hadar district of the Nineveh governorate.
Accompanied by the site’s official Mahmoud Al-Wardy, Ambassador Putkonen received a guided tour visit of the ancient archaeological site, spanning temples, stone carvings, and buildings which are believed to date as far back as 312 BCE.
Ambassador Putkonen commended the site as one of the most beautiful archaeological sites he visited, adding that one visit is not enough to discover the civilisational breadth of the Hatra site.
